Prodigal:\u00a0 Yep, hockey is fun to watch!<\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Before the next period starts why don’t I share a story for you.<\/p>\n

This comes from the book Voices of the Faithful by Beth Moore<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Civil war pummeled Ivory Cost, West Africa.\u00a0 When the fighting began, doctors fled.\u00a0 That was how one Toura village found itself without modern medicine.\u00a0 An epidemic swept through killing dozens of children.<\/p>\n

Among the victims was 4 year old Rebecca, the daughter of Clarice and Zo, two of only three Christians there.\u00a0 “If your God is so powerful, why did Rebecca die?”\u00a0 the villagers asked Clarice, taunting.<\/p>\n

“If your fetishes are so powerful, why did your children die?\u00a0 Clarice answered. “The Bible says it rains on the righteous and the unrighteous alike.”<\/p>\n

Months later, illness struck Clarice, and she fell into a coma.\u00a0 Zo’s father, Lee, summoned the medicine men to work magic over his daughter-in-law.\u00a0 Zo refused witchcraft.\u00a0 Lee was furious and told the medicine men, “Just leave.\u00a0 We’ll let my son and his Christians pray and we’ll see how powerful their God is!”<\/p>\n

Zo and Christians from another village prayed.\u00a0 They knelt on the dusty floor of the two-room home, laid their hands on Clarice’s motionless body and cried out to God.\u00a0 As they prayed, Clarice opened her eyes!<\/p>\n

The next day, there was another miracle.\u00a0 After hearing about Clarice’s recovery, Lee put on his nicest robe, picked up his crane and walked six miles to the other village.\u00a0 There, he thanked each Christian who prayed.\u00a0 This man who had persecuted Christians was now honoring them.<\/p>\n

Today, Clarice is back working in her fields.\u00a0 Her life has been a testimony to many of the power of prayer to the true God.<\/p>\n
