A prisoner, condemned to solitary confinement, obtained a copy of the Bible, and by three years of careful study obtained the following facts:<\/p>\n

The Bible contains 3,586,489 letters, 773,692 words, 31,173 verses, 1,189 chapters, and 66 books.\u00a0 The word “and” occurs 46,277 times.\u00a0 The word “Lord” occurs 1.855 times.\u00a0 The word “Reverend” occurs but one and is in the 9th verse of the 111th Psalm.\u00a0 The middle verse is the 8th verse of the 118th Psalm.\u00a0 The 21st verse of the 7th chapter of Ezra contains all the letters in the alphabet except the letter J.\u00a0 The finest chapter to read is the 26th chapter of the Acts of the Apostles.\u00a0 The 19th chapter of II Kings and the 37th chapter of Isaiah are alike.\u00a0 The longest verse is the 9th verse of the 8th chapter of Esther.\u00a0 The shortest verse is the 35th verse of the 11th chapter of John.\u00a0 The 8th, 15th, 21st, and 31 st verses of the 107th Psalm are alike.\u00a0 Each verse of the 136th Psalm is alike.\u00a0 There are no words or names of more than six syllables in the Bible.<\/p>\n
