Me:\u00a0 Hi Prodigal, are you happy with hockey season starting again?<\/p>\n

Prodigal:\u00a0 I am just remembering the playoffs.\u00a0 Some people are disappointed that we did not win the Stanley Cup Finals but I have to say that the good news is that we made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs.\u00a0 It was fun and I cannot wait to see what happens this year.<\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 I have to agree that I cannot wait to see how the hockey season plays out this year but I have other good news that is something everyone can be happy about.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Prodigal:\u00a0 I am ready to hear this good news!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

John R. Scott shares with us what this good news is.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You can never take God by surprise.\u00a0 You can never anticipate Him.\u00a0 He always makes the first move.\u00a0 He is always there “in the beginning.”\u00a0 Before man existed, God acted.\u00a0 Before man stirs himself to seek God, God has sought man.\u00a0 In the Bible, we do not see man groping after God; we see God reaching after man.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people visualize a God Who sits comfortably on a distant throne, remote, aloof, uninterested, and indifferent to the need of mortals, until, it may be, they can badger Him into taking action on their behalf.\u00a0 Such a view is wholly false.\u00a0 The Bible reveals a God Who, long before it even occurs to man to turn to Him, while man is still lost in darkness and sunk in sin, takes the initiative, rises from His throne, lays aside His glory, and stoops to seek until He finds him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is neither a collection of religious ideas nor a catalog of rules.\u00a0 It is a “gospel”-the good news.\u00a0 In Paul’s words, it is “the gospel of God…concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 1:1,3).\u00a0 It is not primarily an invitation to man to do anything; it is supremely a declaration of what God has done in Christ for human beings like ourselves.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What amazing good news!\u00a0 Where ever you are right now, God has made a plan for you to hear the good news as either as a reminder of the love he has given you or as a first step to accepting a relationship with Christ.\u00a0 How long has he been planning this?\u00a0 He has been planning this since the day you were born.\u00a0 He is an active God.\u00a0 He is a loving God.\u00a0 He acts to reach out to us.\u00a0 Could we possibly take a minute right now to reach back to Him and really tell our appreciation of how He\u00a0always thinks of us!<\/p>\n

Romans 5:8<\/p>\n

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:\u00a0 While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.<\/p>\n
