Me: Howdy Prodigal!
Prodigal: Just getting off the phone, people are calling me about this and that today!
Me: You must be busy?
Prodigal: Yes, it can be very stressful at times. I just need five minutes to myself.
Me: I have a story to give you a five minute break.
Prodigal: It could not hurt at this point.
Me: This short poem was sent in from our reader Ginger. She was encouraged and passed this along especially for you Prodigal so I hope you enjoy!
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy life.
I got nothing that I asked for–but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.
–author unknown, A Creed for Those Who Have Suffered
This is for you who are suffering in trials today. Who among you have prayed for family unity and conflict still continues everyday? Who among you have prayed for money to pay the bills and another has been added to the pile? Who among you just needs five minutes among the noise and the phone rings? Who among you have prayed for healing for your body and you get the flu you can’t handle right now. This is for you today. God may not answer your prayer right now in the way you want. God is saying right now to you, I am giving you hope for this day to just make it through!
Ephesians 2:4
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us.
God Bless,
Jennifer
