Me: Prodigal, who are you with today?
Prodigal: This is Morky and Minnie and they are brother and sister. We are spending time together.
Me: Family is made up of more then just blood. In fact there is such a thing as God’s family.
Prodigal: Tell me a little bit about God’s family please.
Bill Hybels talks about God’s family in his book; Who You Are When No One’s Looking.
What does it take to do the will of the Father? It takes courage to join a family that is misunderstood by the world. It takes discipline to accomplish the tasks God has set out for his children. It takes vision to overcome inevitable problems and to see what God is doing in the lives of his children. It takes endurance to stick with your brothers and sisters when it would be so much easier to go your own way. Above all, it takes love to hold God’s family together and to reach out and invite others to join it–tender, tough, sacrificial, radical love.
Our Church family and our Christian friends. What a source of joy they are, but you know sometimes there is that struggle. We start to fight with each other and view each other as enemies. How sad our Father must be when he sees this. I know that person might look at you as an enemy. God looks at them with love. So with that tender, tough, sacrificial, radical love, look at them with the eyes of our Father. Take away that judgment in your heart today. Really pray that God blesses that person and ask God if you are the person that should help bless them.
Romans 8:29
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
